Why my paint sprayer starts up but does not draw in paint?
below are common reason which cause the spray gun not picking up paint, or paint sprayer not priming.
There’re always clients asking us Why my sprayer starts up but does not draw in paint? or why my airless paint sprayer not priming? let’s explain it by using our X6 sprayer as an example:

Suction filter clogged.
Solution: Remove the suction filter, Clean the filter screen with brush. Make sure there’re no any dry paint kept in the filter, because it will be sucked into the pump and get the tip nozzle blocked easily.
Suction tube loose at inlet valve / suction valve or end of fluid pump.
Solution: (this is popular happened in the job site, or maybe happened for the first time. because the suction tube could easily get loose during the transportation to the final user’s hand. So we recommend the client users to double check it before spraying.)
Solution: Clean connection and tighten the suction tube , (or maybe you need to take off the suction tube to check if the gasket or O-ring get broken. if the air enter inside, then the pressure will be very low.)
The suction ball get stuck with the ball seat, the ball can’t move
Solution: you can use a wrench to punch the fluid pump suction valve position 2 or 3 times, then the ball will get loose, and you will see the paint is sucked quickly. or you can remove the suction tube and use your little finger or a pencil to push the suction ball inside the SUCTION VALVE, make sure the ball or spring is moving, not get stuck.
This is always happened specially for the first time use. because the suction ball could be sticked with some dirty or grease when it was tested in the factory.
Outlet valve is stuck, dirty or has worn out parts.
Solution: you can use a wrench to punch the fluid pump outlet valve position 2 or 3 times, then the ball will get loose, and you will see the paint is sucked quickly. or you can use the thin needle pin in the package to move the ball outlet valve of X6 airless paint sprayer, to make sure the ball / spring not get stuck. it happened sometimes because of the dirty inside.
Because the spring and the spring seat is in the middle of the valve, you should put the needle from the side of the valve body into the deep inside, and then move the needle pin to touch the ball.
No paint or very few paint left, or suction tube not totally immersed into the paint.
Solution: (1).Check to be sure that both the strainer and the suction tube are completely submerged in the paint. (2).or add more paint. Immerse suction tube in paint.
Bypass knob (Prime Spray Valve) in “Spray” position.
Solution: please Turn bypass knob to “Prime”, to check if the paint could be sucked and return back to bucket. Everytime before spraying, please prime the paint so as to exhaust the air inside, otherwise the spray gun won’t suck the paint.
if the paint sprayer doesn’t suck the paint no matter in PRIME or SPRAY position, please try to adjust the valve handle to 45 degree, sometimes it did work.
Pressure knob in “Low” setting.
Solution:Turn pressure regulator knob to “High”. If the pressure is setted at 0 or low position, the machine may not run, and of course the paint wouldn’t be drawn up.
Suction tube problem.
Solution:Replace if necessary.
above are the popular reason for the X6 paint sprayer unit, the new updatd X9 has a lot of updating which will prevent the air leakage, spray gun doesn’t suck the paint.
so we recommen our clients to order X9 instead of X6 paint sprayer.
Spray gun filter get clogged?
if the pump sprayer could draw in the paint, but the paint couldn’t be sprayed out through the nozzle, please check the spray gun filter is clean or get clogged. (you must power off the machine, and set the prime spray valve to PRIME position to release the pressure inside. and then loose the spray gun handle to check the filter inside.
if it’s too dirty or get rusted, or filled with the dry paint, you have to remove it and clean it thorouly.
please note the paint sprayer unit must be 100% cleaned carefully everytime when you finish your painting job. and we recommend you put draw in some lubricating oil inside the pump if you will stock the paint sprayer for over 1 month.
